This technique became popular from the end of the Meiji era (1868-1912) to the Taisho era (1912-1926).
The dots called "chibu" (grains) piled up on the ground color are generally recognized for their nobility and elegance.
Ordinary grains are beaten in irregular positions, but Nakada Kintama's grains are beaten into swirls or blue wave patterns, and the use of the Kinzuri technique gives them a completely different three-dimensional effect and style.
In addition, the uniformity of grain size, color and spacing is truly an art form.
No wonder he was honored with the tea set with lid (yellow ground with gold arabesque) used when His Majesty the Emperor visited Kagoshima Prefecture.
